Hi Anna,
Thank you for the responses and I absolutely agree with you. It was a move where I wish someone in the room shook myself and all my other colleagues out of it. A lot of misinformation and false promises filled our ears and we said ‘yes’ with a lot of faith in those who shared them. One of them was we would receive 1/5th of our salary in compensation (we are not. It’s less than that). Another promise was that we would receive as much support was we need (we haven’t).
I hate that we are fed this mantra that “this is just the job” and “do it for the kids.” It’s gaslighting. This entire experience shook me out of this fog and I deserve a workplace that supports and cares for me, so moves will be made at the end of the year. All I can hope is that no one makes the same choices I did in that moment. Yes, the students are important, but YOU are even moreso. How can you help others if you can’t help yourself?
Thank you, again, for your comments. Something has to give and I hope that this makes others more aware/prevents people from being in situations like myself and many others.
