The 4 Year Anniversary of Fallout 4 Is Upon Us, This Is What We Could Have Had

The Memory Den is painted in sultry reds, emulating a posh smoking lounge, spoiled only by the assorted memory loungers littered about. Bethesda writers take us to this very spot to perform a memory dig on one of the most compelling antagonists within the Fallout 4 universe: Conrad Kellogg. At the end of this mission (“Dangerous Minds”) you reunite with your ally, Nick Valentine, near the entrance. As you step closer, Nick looks occupied, cogs and bits whirling softly. Our beloved synth companion will turn his yellow eyes our way and speak in a voice not quite his:

“Hope you got what you were looking for inside my head. Heh, I was right. Should’ve killed you when you were on ice.”

With a sigh of machinery, the moment is gone. Pick and pry all you want about the encounter afterwards, Nick won’t recall.

Conrad Kellogg, the first antagonist thrown in our path and who, ultimately, gives the Sole Survivor initial purpose in this chaotic world, is still around. A villain has taken home in our friend, but that storyline is never continued. We never hear a peep out of Kellogg and that is a story telling tragedy, because the potential is…
